About the role
We are looking for a Network Protection Supervisor to effectively lead high performing team of qualified protection officers upon the RTIO network through visible leadership and coaching. Undertake safeworking management to support the safe and efficient requirements of network protection for Rail Maintenance activities.
Reporting to the team of network protection officers, you will:
- Actively lead and engage RTIO and contractor teams using Leadership in the Field by providing and seeking feedback and coaching.
- Drive and contribute at the RMI/Divisional LIF and ensure all team members attend when not performing other duties.
- Ensure all safeworking activities are effectively managed within the legislative, regulatory, RTIO guidelines and local procedure amendments.
- Timely escalation of all incidents and effectively investigate and ensure timely close out (<1 month) all incidents for the safeworking team including contractors.
- Regular 1:1’s to be held with all team members to discuss performance expectations for employees (and contractors) and coach performance against these standards including conducting formal performance appraisals, implementing corrective and improvement initiatives in accordance with RTIO policy.
- Ensure all team members HR and Cost (Purchase Orders) activities are actioned in a timely manner
- Actively drive alignment across the Network Protection Team
- Proactively look to create a positive relationship with key stakeholders (Network Protection Panels, Scheduling, RLO, CM and Execution teams)
- Drive and monitor performance expectations for employees (and contractors) and coach performance against these standards including implementing corrective and improvement initiatives in accordance with RTIO policy.
- Support the achievement of Balance Scorecard objectives and KPI’s as detailed within the Personal development plan (PDP)
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 5 years Network Protection (Safeworking Experience)
- Experience in leading medium teams
- High Performing Protection Officer
- 3 years’ experience within the resource and/or supply chain sectors – desirable
- Previous Contractor Management experience – desirable
- Manual driver’s license – mandatory
- Minimum M3 Safeworking Qualification

Work locations will extend across the ~1,700km RTIO rail network in the Pilbara with depots located at Tom Price, Cape Lambert and Dampier (7 Mile).
